
Kathleen Sareena Dagum
Kathleen is a multidisciplinary artist whose work reflects themes of social realism, focusing on the environment, women, culture, social morality, and children’s rights. She manipulates diverse materials such as wire, paper, fabric, scrap wood, and metal to create sculptures that offer introspective reflections on societal issues. Her art serves as a voice for marginalized groups, emphasizing what she believes matters most in society.
Before venturing into sculpture, Kathleen developed a strong foundation in watercolor, creating illustrations that often depicted children in natural, rural settings, emphasizing storytelling and connection to nature.
She holds a degree in Secondary Education, Mathematics (2011) from Mindanao State University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts – Sculpture (Magna Cum Laude, 2017) from the University of the Philippines Diliman. In 2021, Kathleen received the Grand Award for Sculpture at the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence (MADE) competition.
